A 2009 Ardmore from independent bottler Single & Single that was matured in a single American oak cask for a decade, before being bottled at cask strength. Aromas of delicate peat smoke, vanilla and nectarines fill the nose, complemented by notes of ripe peaches, oranges, sweet smoke and soft oak on the palate, developing into honey and flakes of sea salt that linger in the finish.
Peaty and fragrant, this is a whisky that will pair well with sea salt infused dark chocolate or, for a more adventurous combination, alongside sushi – particularly fresh tuna rainbow rolls and nigiri.
