Another great distillery producing meaty charactered malts, Benrinnes is quite popular amongst independent bottlers and appreciated by connoisseurs for it’s light, fruity character. This particular cask of Benrinnes was aged in a bourbon hogshead and finished in an Oloroso Hogshead. Rather than going for a “coloured” result, the finishing was kept short to add a magical layer of prunes, sultanas and spices to this already accomplished malt.
Nose: Almonds, quince jelly, custard, gooseberries and pancakes.
Taste: Marzipan, bitter almonds, gooseberries, lemon and croissant.
Finish: Heather honey, Limonchello, lemon drops and butter
