Another workhorse distillery producing malts for Diageo blends, mostly for Bell’s. This beautiful distillery was built in 1798 in Pitlochry. It has a nutty character resulting from cloudy worts and
short fermentation. Majority of Blair Athol’s malt for blending is destined for bourbon wood ageing so it’s rather rare that we found a wine cask aged Blair Athol. We think the cask used in the ageing was a 2nd or 3rd fill which resulted in a complex dram rather than a dominated one.
