Craigellachie 1978 16 Year Old Cask #7706 First Cask

Back in the 1990s, First Cask were well known for giving whisky drinkers an insight to lesser known distilleries, and while Craigellachie has more recently become a producer of much-loved, meaty Speyside classics, back then they were barely known. This single cask bottling gives us an insight into those lesser-known years: distilled in 1978 and bottled at 16 years old. While a little lighter in character than the Craigellachie we know today, it still exhibits its fruity and oily character, and is a great dram for those diving into the distillery’s history or looking for something a little out of the ordinary.
