The Craigellachie Distillery in the very heart of Speyside is an impressive sight, with its traditional pagoda and glass-walled stillhouse. Three casks of powerful eleven year old Craigellachie Single Malt were further matured in specially selected Tawny Port barrels from Caves de Murça, Portugal. After fifteen months, the time had come to share this transformed Speysider.
There is a deep maltiness on the nose, followed by nutty aromas and a floral fruitiness. A burst of resplendent winter fruits on the palate, complimented by toffee nut brittle. There is a hint of chocolate on the finish, along with a sweet oak spice.
