The second edition in a limited annual release from Macallan that for the No2 sees a collaboration between master whisky maker of Macallan (Bob Dalgarno) and the team at the El Celler De Can Roca restaurant in Girona,Spain (Twice voted best restaurant in the world).
Nose: Rich buttery brown bread toast and dark honey along with ginger conserve, fruitcake, peanut brittle, roasted hazelnuts, sherry soake orange slices, praline, coffee, walnut and sticky dates.
Palate: A big mouthfull of classic Macallan Sherry oak of old with rich fruitcake, roasted nuts, dark chocolate, mocha, praline, fragrant honey, buttery oak, mincemeat, ripe figs and lots of sweet but not overtly sweet luxurious sherry oak.
Finish: Long and luxurious, brandy butter on Christmas pudding, fig jam, waxy orange, ginger and lots of creamy and buttery Sherry oak.
A real return to form from Macallan and who cares about age statements when the whisky is this good? if you like the 18 year old and sherry cask releases from this distillery you should buy as much of this as you can as it is a real steal at the moment!
