Macallan – Speymalt (Unboxed) 2005 14 year old Whisky

For the first time since Spring 2018, the return of one of Gordon and Macphail’s truly iconic lines, Speymalt from the Macallan distillery!

Always one of the great core bottlings in the old G&M range, this disappered amid reports of dwindling stocks and price rises, well it’s back (though we don’t know for how long…!)

This is a 2005 vintage, 14 year old sherried Macallan, resplendent in the ‘old style’ packaging. Price wise it’s a steal for a Macallan but the quality is there also. Classic Sherry cask aromas are present with stewed dark fruits, Highland toffee, milk chocolate and baked banana sundae. The palate is rich and smooth, with good mouthfeel. There’s creamy chocolate, pear and orange flavours to the fore with a slight woody spice and pepper that adds a little balance. The finish is lingering and creamy with a delicate departure.

Grab a bottle (or 2) of this while you can as this is absolutely superb value for a whisky of this quality.
