Benriach – Single Cask #2048 2008 9 year old Whisky

A peated/Port cask edition for Batch 15 of the single cask series of releases.

Tasting Notes:

Nose:Christmas mulled wine spices and cranberry jelly, crunchy redcurrants, red bubblegum, red liquorice, aromatic heather over earthy smoke with some sweeter pink wafers and vanillin oak.

Palate: Peppery red berries, meaty-salami like notes, crunchy cranberry, brambly red fruits, earthy peat smoke with an aromatic/sweet edge (strawberries on a heather smoke bbq) stewed red plums/rhubarb with a touch of anise and leather here too.

Finish: Pomegranate molasses, smoked rhubarb, peppery oak, crunchy tannins, brambly red fruit, lasting spice and red chilli flake like heat and stewed black fruits galore.

Another superb single cask release from the ever reliable Benriach, aromatic peat smoke and port cask is a winning combination here.
