The Fifth and final release of the “Five virtues series” from the Highland distillery Tomatin.
A series of five limited edition bottlings from Tomatin that will span 2017 and 2018 called the “Five Virtues” which is a creative collaboration between the award winning Tomatin distillery and leading contemporary artist Eva Ullrich.
Water is represented by the naturally pure and soft water from the Alt-na-frith burn, the distilleries private water source running through the distillery grounds.
This edition deliberately employs winter distilled spirit, where reduced contact with the copper stills enriches the final flavour.
Matured in a combination of Sherry butts and Bourbon barrels.
Our Tasting Notes:
Nose: Raisin scotch pancakes, runny dark honey on bran flakes, chocolate spread, blood orange marmalade on brown toast, walnut whips (especially the walnut bit!) moocha, praline, toasted hazelnuts, toffee apples and peanut brittle.
Palate: Big malty delivery with fig jam, malt loaf, chocolate covered raisins, toasted pecans and walnuts. A real juicy body and mouthfeel with rich notes of cognac soaked dates and sherry soaked sultanas.
Finish: Bran flakes, dark marmalade, raisin toast, coffee and walnut cake, figgy pudding, dates in sticky toffee pudding, chocolate malt beer, cinnamon and toasted malt.
Simply awesome finale to the wonderful “Five Virtues series” and a faultless example of how to do double cask maturation.
Moreish with a capital Mmmmm!
